Brenda Kay (Loper) Sowell

Memorial services for Brenda Kay Sowell, 57, of Portales, were held Sept. 11, 2019 in Big Spring, TX.

Brenda Kay Sowell was born July 15, 1962 in Snyder, TX to the home of Pansy (Jewett) and W R Loper, and died unexpectedly in Lubbock, TX on Sept. 6, 2019.  Brenda grew up in Big Spring, TX where her family moved in 1968.  She was a 1980 graduate of Big Spring High School.  She went on to earn an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, and was employed by Howard College in Big Spring as a Computer Consultant.  She enjoyed fishing with family and friends and refinishing furniture.

She is survived by her long time companion, Roy Burke of Portales; two sons, John Sowell and Dustin Sowell both of Big Spring, TX; two grandchildren; her father, W. R. Loper also of Big Spring; a brother, J. D. and four sisters, Mary, Patricia, Cheryl and Pansy.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Pansy Loper on April 7, 2005.
