Debra "Debbie" Diane (Wade) Smith

     A funeral service for Debra Diane "Debbie" Smith, 61, of Portales, will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 16, 2019, at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Donald Hay officiating.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery.

     Debra Diane "Debbie" Smith was born on September 22, 1958, in Portales, New Mexico to the home of Laquita Joy (Bellar) and Gerald Alvis Wade and died on December 11, 2019 in Lubbock.

     She grew up in Roosevelt County.  She went to school in Floyd until her senior year and graduated from Portales High School in 1975.  She finished correspondence courses in respiratory therapy and did her internship in Portales and Clovis.  Debbie worked at the local hospitals as well as in Roswell, Hobbs and Raton from 1979 until 2000.  For several years in the early 1980s, she had a daycare in her home.  She enjoyed horses, painting, ceramics and doing lawn work.

      Debbie is survived by her daughter, Melissa Pharis & husband Mike of Floyd; a brother, Mike Wade, and three grandchildren, Raegan, Kynadee and Layton.

     She was preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Laquita Wade, and a son Justin Ray Kent.
