Dennis Dean Edwards was born July 1, 1941 in Clovis, NM to the home of Wessie Leona (Randol) and Hugh J. Edwards and died April 20, 2019 in Angel Fire, NM.  Dennis graduated from Clovis High School in 1959, and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern New Mexico University in Finance.  Following graduation, he moved to Phoenix, AZ where he worked for the Controller of the Currency as a National Bank Examiner.  It was there that he met his first wife,Ellen Humphries.   They had two daughters, Kippi and Sibbi.  Kippi preceded him in death due to cancer in 2016.  Sibbi currently lives in Medford, OR.  He has three grandchildren, Morgan, Shae and Mason who all live in Arizona.  Dennis was a wonderful and loving father and grandfather who brought joy and wisdom to his family.

  He eventually went to work for Chase Manhattan Bank where he became Senior Vice President.  Being an only child, he returned to Clovis to help in the care of his aging parents. While living in Clovis, Dennis married Carolyn Mullenax Pressley.   For a time he owned and operated a men’s clothing store, but eventually re-entered the banking industry.  He served as Community President for the Wells Fargo Bank in Portales for several years.  He moved to First Savings Bank where he was branch manager, but eventually returned to Wells Fargo.  Dennis retired from banking in 2002, and moved to Angel Fire.

Dennis always worked to serve his respective community.  During the years Dennis lived in Phoenix he was very active in the JC’s.  He was also involved in the rodeo and the Fiesta Bowl.  He even served as scout for the football teams, and helped to raise millions of dollars for the Fiesta Bowl.  While living in Clovis, Dennis was very involved in the Chamber of Commerce, and served in various offices, including as President .  He dedicated much of his time and energy to Rotary, and was named as a Paul Harris Fellow.  He served on the club’s board in a number of positions, including Foundation Chair and as President.  In 2006-2007 he served as District Governor for District 5520.

While living in Angel Fire, Dennis became very involved in the music and served as their temporary Director for a time.  He also volunteered on the Search and Rescue Squad for the surrounding areas.  Among his other interests were hunting and fishing, scuba diving, competitive clay shooting, gun collecting, tennis and boating, as well as obtaining his pilot’s license and owning and flying his own planes.

Dennis was a devoted Christian, and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.  At the time of his death he was a member of the Church of Christ in Eagle Nest.  He loved God, his family, and his community.  He gave endlessly of his time and talent to many people through the years.  He was a gentleman I the true meaning of the word.  He will be missed by so many, but never forgotten.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Angel Fire, NM in addition to his daughter, Sibbi Edwards and his grandchildren, as well as several cousins.
