Obituary

Funeral services for Adam Gomez, 52, currently making his home in Cushing, OK will be held at 10:00 AM, Thurs, Aug. 17, 2023 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Noel Mote officiating assisted by Tyler Watson.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Daniel Gomez, Tyler Watson, Terral Watson, Trinity Watson, Derek Gonzales and Chris Garcia serving as pallbearers.  Zenon Apodaca, Israel Garcia, Anthony Gomez, Connor Lopez, Kaden Lopez, and Christopher Lopez will be honorary pallbearers.

Adam Daniel Gomez was born Jan. 8, 1971 in Portales to the home of Connie Marie (Garcia) and Alfonso Joe Gomez, and died Aug. 8, 2023 in Omaha, NE.  The family home was in the Causey community until 1978 when they relocated to more in the Portales area.  During his school career, Adam attended in Dora, and Portales, before finally attending Faith Temple School where he graduated in 1989.  He eventually earned a degree in Electronics from Clovis Community College.  Adam worked at several different local businesses, including Robert’s TV, at the University, Yucca Telecommunications, Cox Cable Network, and Chaparral Electric.  In 2007, Adam had earned his Electrical Contractor’s license, and established AD&T Electric.  Through his business, he worked all over the state of New Mexico as well as in West Texas.  Adam eventually held a Journeyman's license in Texas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma.  At one point, he even worked for several months in the Marshall Islands.

Adam was always ready to help someone in need, whether he was getting paid or not.  At one point, he completely rewired a home in Clovis for an elderly couple at no cost.  He was constantly doing for others.

On Nov. 21, 1991 in Farwell, TX he was married to Shirley Dicus.  The couple had three children, two sons and a daughter.  Shirley preceded him in death on May 17, 2019.  On April 23, 2021 in Oklahoma City he was married to Martha Meeks, better known as “Sam.”

Adam loved heavy metal music.  He was always up for a concert, and through the years he had attended dozens.  He had a great sense of humor, and loved a good joke, or prank.

He is survived by his wife, “Sam” Gomez of Cushing, OK; his sons, Daniel Adam Gomez of Andrews, TX, and Anthony Edward Gomez of Portales; his daughter, Tsianina Dante and her husband, Tyler of Booneville, MS; another daughter, Kaleah Turnbough of Jennings, OK; Sam’s children, Tyler Watson of Portales, Terral Watson of Portales, Trinity Watson of Midland, TX, Tanessa Watson of Clovis; a grandchild, Austin Jaqua, and Sam’s grandchildren,  Elliott Watson and Jackson Watson; his father, Alfonso Gomez and his fiance, Patti Heflin of Portales; his sister, Victoria Garcia and her husband, Rick of Los Lunas, NM; and his two nieces, Tasia Pheil and Marissa Garcia and his nephew Marquez Garcia, two nephews, Aidyn Apodaca and Gage Pheil.  He was preceded in death by his mother as well as by his first wife, Shirley.
