Bonnie Mae (Owen) Seal

Graveside services for Bonnie Seal, 97, of Portales, will be held at 10:00 AM, Sat., April 3, 2021 in the Portales Cemetery with Rev. Garlan Hughes officiating.  Mrs. Seals' grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.  Those desiring to make memorial contributions may send them to the New Mexico Baptist Children's Home, P O Box 629, Portales, NM 88130.

Bonnie Mae Seal was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Lueders, TX to the home of Eula Mae (Ray) and James Willson Owen, and died Mar 30, 2021 in Portales, NM.  On Dec 27, 1939, in Portales, she was married to Milton "Charley" Seal.  They farmed together, and for 24 years during peanut harvest, Bonnie worked at the Borden Peanut Co. in Portales.  She was a faithful member of the New Testament Baptist Church for as long as her health would permit.  She and Mr. Seal enjoyed camping and fishing in the Cloudcroft area.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Rusty Bennett of Elida, NM; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Nancy (Mrs. Hershel) Seal of Odessa, TX and Judy (Mrs. Garry) Seal of Las Cruces, NM; a niece who more like a sister, Patsy Dewbre of Clovis; a sister-in-law, Zelda Townsend of Odessa, TX; a brother-in-law, Harold Henson of Phoenix, AZ; and a cousin Melvin (Betty) Ray of Portales.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Sharbutt Owen, four sisters, Kathleen Brown, Marie Henson, Letha Erickson and Shirley Heisch; a grandchild; two sons, Hershel Seal and Garry Seal, and by Charley Seal, her beloved husband who died Jan. 1, 2015, after just over 75 years of marriage.
