Candace Sue Wright, known to virtually everyone as Candy, was born Dec. 3, 1951 in Portales to the home of Marida Bell (Bryant) and Ned Wright, and died on the morning of Nov. 4, 2021 in Farwell, TX.  Candy was a 1969 graduate of Portales High School where she was a member of DECA and also sang in the choir.  Candy earned an Associate's Degree from Clovis Community College in the late 1980's and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Eastern New Mexico University in 1992.

Candy began working for Xcel Energy in 1974 in the Portales office, and moved to the Clovis Line Department in 1980.  She retired as an Administrative Assistant in 2017 after 41 years of service.  She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church.  She always enjoyed her family gatherings with her sister and her cousins.  Candy liked to collect antique things that she thought might one day be valuable, and also handmade Longaberger Baskets.

Candy is survived by her sister, Kathy Wright of Clovis; her cousins, Tonya Hodges and husband, Dean of Tucumcari, NM, Don Bryant of Tucumcari, NM and Guy Bryant and wife, Darla of Hereford, TX, along with Brent Hodges and wife Brandi of Burwell, NE, Scot Hodges and wife, Joey and Brad Hodges and wife, Courtney all of Clovis and their children and Tell Bryant of Hereford, TX; as well as numerous other cousins and relatives and her Boston Terrier, Birken.  She was preceded in death by both of her parents.
