Carol Ann Terry was born Oct. 4, 1953, in Des Moines, IA to the home of Juanita Irene (Allen) and William Levon Coe and died on May 7, 2023 in Amarillo, TX. Carol’s family moved to Alamogordo, NM when Carol was a young child. In 1964, they relocated to Tucumcari, NM where the family owned Coe’s White Home and Auto Store. Following Carol’s graduation from high school in 1971, she went on to attend the Tucumcari branch of Eastern New Mexico University for two years. Meanwhile, she was working in the family business as the credit manager. She continued to work in the store until it closed following her father’s death in 1991.
On June 12, 1982 in Tucumcari, she was married to Karl Terry. Shortly after the store closed, she and her husband moved to Bay City, TX where Carol worked in the Public Library. In 1993, they relocated to Ridgway, CO, but moved again a year later to Montrose, CO where Carol worked part time for the public schools. The couple moved again to Carbondale, CO in 1996, and Carol worked first in the State Farm Insurance office, and later took a position with a local contractor as bookkeeper and secretary.
In 2002, Carol suffered her first stroke, caused by a rare autoimmune disease, from which she made a nearly full recovery. However, a serious traffic accident along with complications from the disease led to declining health. In 2005, she and her husband relocated again to Portales to be near his family. Carol was a member of Third and Kilgore Church of Christ. She served several years on the Roosevelt Republican Committee and as a state delegate.
Carol loved to read and watch television, and in addition to books, she loved her pets.  In addition, she was a die hard Broncos fan.  The couple enjoyed vacationing in Red River and Ruidoso.
Carol is survived by Karl, her husband of more than 40 years of their home; a brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Judy Coe of West Des Moines, IA and a nephew, Michael Coe of Los Lunas, NM; as well as many members of her husband’s family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Juanita Coe and by an infant niece, Patricia Coe.
