Claudia Rae (Weseman) Weringa
Obituary
Claudia Rae Weringa was born Dec. 20, 1943 to the home of Beatrice Iona (Runke) and Claude Weseman in Hollandale, MN, and passed from this life on Aug. 31, 2023 in Clovis, NM. Mrs. Weringa grew up in Hollandale, and it was there that she met Menko Weringa. They were married Nov. 10, 1960. A few years later, they moved to Chino, CA, where they made their home until the late 1970’s. At that time, they relocated to Ramona, CA. She remained there until 2020, when she came to Portales to make her home with her son and daughter-in-law. Mrs. Weringa was a member of the Christian Reform Church in Escondido, CA. She displayed her creative side by growing and arranging flowers. Her real passion was rooting for the San Diego Padres.
She is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Rosson of CO and Wendy Yanez and her husband, Manuel of Hesperia, CA and her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Charmaine Weringa of Portales; he eight grandchildren, Jayson, Amanda and Ashley Rosson, Candace Yanez, Dayleen Spilman, Menkoryan Yanez, and Branden and Jacob Weringa; a sister, Pam Elcome of Albert Lee, MN; and her beloved cat, Ladybug. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Menko Weringa who died Dec. 25, 1985.
