Dale Wayne Johnson

A memorial service for Dale Johnson will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 11, 2025, in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Wayne Boydston officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Darren Suddeth, Terry Krob, Ed Riley, Alan Meyer, Herrardo ”Hedo”, Kurt Lebo, Les Harrelson, Landon Meeks and Matt Meeks.

Dale Wayne Johnson, 61, of Texico, NM passed away surrounded by loved ones on August 28, 2025, after a difficult battle with pancreatitis.  He was born in Portales, NM, June 15, 1964 to the home of Judy Anne (Clark) and George Mike Johnson.

Dale grew up in Eastern New Mexico most of his life.  He lived in Texico, NM for over 20 years and graduated from Texico High School in May 20,1982.  Shortly after High School Dale married Valencia Meier and they had three children; Landon, Michael, and Donovan. Dale worked with Excel as a white hat Quality Control right out of high school. Dale went to work for Greer and Greer as mechanic. Dale also worked as a mechanic for his (Father) Mike and drove for him as well.  He did various jobs around the area. He was well known for his abilities and always had a project to do. Not to mention building and racing cars with his brother David. He worked for Cummins for several years. He then went to work for R&D Service as a Service Manager. 

No matter where Dale worked he made longtime friends along the way.  Dale started a small business DLM Repair in the earlier years but utilized this for side work. When Mike’s health took a downward turn, Dale worked DLM out of the shop in Texico. After he closed DLM Repairs he went to work for TLM Express Trucking as a driver where he worked for several years.   Dale remarried Christy Scarborough. She had two children; Canyon and Chyanne.  Dale finally got a daughter he never knew he always wanted. He found great joy having a daughter in the house.  He spoiled her and made her feel like his own.  Anyone who knew Dale, knew he always did what he set out to do, he was goofy at times and he had a heart of gold. He loved to hunt, camp, be outdoors in general. He loved his family and friends with all of his heart and soul. 

Dale is proceeded in death by his Mother Judy Ann, his Father George “Mike”, and grandson Copeland.  Dale is survived by his wife Christy, his sons Landon and wife Shanda, Michael and wife Jade, Donovan, Canyon, and his daughter Chyanne.  His grandsons Schaefer, McCoy, Brysen, Archer, Owen, and his granddaughters Adalyn and Holland.
