Dan Massey

Funeral services for Dan Massey, 30, of Lubbock, TX will be at 2:00 PM, Sat., Oct 24, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church in Portales with Darrell Chenault officiating.  Ben Massey, Levi Massey, Trace Buchanan, Cecil Cade Cathey, J. T. Kight and Hank Henson will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Asher Dan Massey, known to virtually everyone as Dan, was born Jan. 29, 1990 in Santa Fe, NM to the home of Peggy (Wyatt) and Michael Massey, and died Oct. 16, 2020 near Lumberton, TX.  Dan graduated from Elida High School in 2008.  He went on to attend Wayland University in Plainview.  In 2012, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps.  While in the service he was stationed in Okinawa and Fort Pendleton where he worked in Motor Transport.  Dan was trained as a welder, and was a member of the Welder's and Pipe Fitter's Union, and had worked mostly in the Texas Panhandle and throughout west Texas.  For the past several months he had been working in Port Arthur, TX dewatering, draining the bijou.

On Aug. 27, 2016 he was married to Maxine Mendoza.  Dan enjoyed fishing and hunting, as well as dancing.  First and foremost, Dan was a devout and faithful Christian.  He was devoted to his family, and was a loyal, beloved friend. 

He is survived by his wife, Maxine of Lubbock, TX; his sons, Asher Dean Massey, Jude Garett Massey who is to be born in Dec. and Trace Buchanan all of Lubbock; his mother and step-father, Peggy and Tony Eimen of Clovis, NM and his father, Michael Massey of Midland, TX;two brothers, Ben Massey and Jaclyn Long of Port Arthur, TX and Levi Massey of Portales; two sisters, Micah Massey of Lubbock, TX and Sarah Massey of Portales, NM; his niece and nephews, Halle Escobedo, Raidyn Escobedo, Benson Massey and another nephew expected shortly; and his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and LaDean Massey of Dora, NM.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Kathleen Thoma and William Arthur Wyatt.
