Funeral services for Diane Turner, 67, of Portales will be held at 10:30 AM, Wed., Nov. 13, 2024 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Morgan officiating, assisted by Rev. Wesley McAfee. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with the deacons of the church serving as pallbearers.
Delores Diane Turner, known to virtually everyone as Diane, was born Aug. 7, 1957 in Portales to the home of Odena Lois (Feland) and Johnny Lee Turner and died on the evening of Nov. 8, 2024 in Portales. Diane was a 1975 graduate of Portales High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from ENMU. Diane became a teacher, and taught her first year in Roy, NM. She taught most of her career in Clayton, NM, but also taught for a year in Morton, TX.
Diane was baptized at Emmanuel Baptist Church She later became a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, where she was very active in taking care of the Library. She loved to read and participate in Bible studies. Diane had a very philanthropic nature, and gave generously to many people over the years. When she realized that she was no longer able to live in her home, she very carefully organized her collection of books to go to various libraries.
She is survived by a cousin, Johnny Turner and his wife, Barbara of Grapevine, TX; her close friend, Dee Sewell and her husband, Dag of Portales; her church family, and a very special couple Fernne and Anita Tapia of Portales. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Ann (Turner) Perales.
