The Mass of the Resurrection for Dominga Tarango, 86, of Portales, will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Thurs., April 22, 2021 at St. Helen Catholic Church by Fr. Francisco Carbajal. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Martin Tarango, Jose Tarango, Octavio Araiza, Mario Lechuga, Jesus Sotelo and Gilberto Ortega serving as pallbearers.
Dominga Tarango was born May 25, 1934 in Gen. Trillas, Chihuahua, Mexico to the home of Soledad (Chavez) and Ramon Granillo and died in Amarillo, TX on Sat., April 17, 2021. Mrs. Tarango grew up in Mexico, and began her working career as a seamstress at a bridal shop. On Dec. 21, 1963 in Chihuahua she was married to Rodrigo Tarango. Later she was employed as a cook at an orphanage. In 1989 she came to Portales to join her husband, who had come to the US in 1986. She was a very devoted member of the Catholic Church, and faithfully prayed the Rosary. She was an excellent cook, and her family particularly enjoyed her mole and rice. She enjoyed crocheting and made many baby sweaters and blankets, as well as a number of scarves.
She is survived by Rodrigo Tarango, her husband of more than 57 years of their home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jose Maria Tarango and Martin and Olga Tarango of Portales; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lourdes Tarango and Ramon Vasquezz of Chihuahua, Mexico and Magdalena and Erasmo Molina of Kansas City, MO; nine grandchildren, Yvette Tarango, Alejandra Tarango, Ivan Vasquezz, Alberto Vasquezz, Aaron Vasquezz, Raul Vasquezz, Anadela Molina, Daniela Molina and Sofia Molina; two great-grandchildren, Regina Vasquezz and Santiago Vasquezz; and a sister, Lourdes Chavarria of Chihuahua, Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Adolfo and Rafael Granillo and by an infant daughter, Maria Del Refujio.
