Donald Edwin Sena

The Rosary for Donald Sena, 60, of Portales will be recited at 1:00 PM, Sat., Dec. 7, 2024 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel.  There will be a Celebration of Don's life following the Rosary at A Little Old Little New Venue at 302 S. Main Ave. in Portales from 2 to 4 PM.

Donald Edwin Sena was born Aug. 13, 1964, in Albuquerque, NM to the home of Maria Viola (Pena) and Johnny Sena, and died peacefully at his home in Portales on Dec. 1, 2024.  Don lived his early life in Ribera, NM, but came to Portales at an early age.  Don lived his life in Portales NM and visited Ribera NM quite often to visit his Dad and enjoyed being at the ranch.  He was a 1982 graduate of Portales High School.  Don was a hard worker all his life.  At the age of 18, he began working at Portales Hardware.  He eventually became a partner in the store along with John Gentry and Ray Gutierrez.  He had ben retired since 2020 due to his declining health.

Donald was a devoted and loving father and grandfather, and always looked forward to spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He loved ranching and always had cattle, pigs, and chickens etc.  He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church.

He is survived by his son, Matthew Sena of Albuquerque, NM; his daughters, Makila Baca and husband, Michael of Tomball, TX and McKenzie Bucksath of Lubbock, TX; five grandchildren, Alexia, Madilyn and Kamron Sena, and Jayla and Ruben Baca as well as six “granddogs,” Hermonie, Foxy, Olaf, Harley, Faith and Teddy; his mother, Viola Garcia of Portales; his step-mother, Cathy Sena of Ribera, NM; four brothers, Johnny (Melissa) Sena, Jr. of Portales, Peter Sena, Charles Sena all of Ribera, NM and Christopher Garcia of Portales; three sisters, Missy (Mike) Ulibarri of Ribera, NM, Barbara (Steve) Sena of Albuquerque, NM and Sherri (Mark) Henderson of Midland, TX.  In addition, he is survived by his two Godchildren, Mario Sena and Adriana Wycuff and by his best and devoted friend, Michael Lucero.  Don was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Ramon and Flora Sena and his maternal grandparents Carlos and Lupe Pena, a brother, Greg Sena and his father, Johnny Sena.
