Donna Sue (Snell) Fulcher

A memorial service for Donna “Sue” Fulcher, 84, of Portales, will be held at 11:00 AM, Tues. May 30, 2023 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel.

Donna Sue Fulcher was born April 5, 1939, in Clovis, NM to the home of Bertha Ann (Martin) and Marion “Bub” Snell, and passed from this life on the morning of May 18, 2023 in Portales.  Mrs. Fulcher grew up in Clovis, where her family owned a packing house.  She was a 1957 graduate of Clovis High School.  She went on to study accounting at Ames Community College in Greeley, CO.  For several years, she made her move in Fort Collins, CO where she owned and operated a combination bar and restaurant.  After she sold the business, she returned to Clovis in 1986.

It was at a class reunion that she reconnected with Harell Fulcher, a classmate that she had dated in high school.  The two rekindled their romance, and were married on April 15, 1988.  This had been her home since that time.

Mrs. Fulcher enjoyed traveling.  Through the years, she enjoyed visiting the Hill Country of Texas to see the Bluebonnets; going to Las Vegas; going on bird watching tours; trips to see the changing colors in the autumn; as a trip to Costa Rica; another to Hawaii; several times to Estes Park, CO; attending the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque; and even a trip down into the Grand Canyon on the back of a mule.  She also loved to watch Bull Riding events; the Denver Broncos Football games; enjoying flower gardening and watching the birds in the area.  However, she was a very attentive and dedicated mother and grandmother, and tried never to miss an event that involved her grandchildren or great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Natalie Schulein of Portales and Donna Michelle Brock of Belen, NM; as well as three sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Deidre Jenkins of Geneva, AL, Donny and Stephanie Jenkins of Rutledge, GA and Jimmy and Sarah Fulcher of La Vernia, TX; ten grandchildren, including Eddie Schulein of Portales and Natasha and Abraham Sotelo of Portales; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jane (Snell) Hayman of Fort Collins, CO.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Gregory and David Brock, a brother, Richard Snell, a son-in-law, Jeffrey Schulein who died Sept. 16, 2022 and by her husband, Harell Fulcher who died in January of 2013.
