Eldon Lynn McAfee

Eldon Lynn McAfee, 52, of Portales, passed away on March 6, 2024, in Amarillo.  Eldon was born on September 17, 1971, in El Paso, Texas.  Eldon had a passion for roping when he was young.  He spent most days out practicing and at roping competitions until he had a stroke at age 14.  

Eldon grew up farming and working with his dad at the peanut mill.  He was also a founding member of the Arch Volunteer Fire Department where he served for more than 20 years.  Eldon married Deann Kay Ferguson on November 1, 1997, in Portales.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time.

Eldon is survived by his wife, Deann McAfee; his sister, Glenda Tivis & husband Kelly; his uncle, Wesley McAfee & wife Doris, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents,  Rhea Dean (Kennedy) and Calvin Glen McAfee.
