A graveside service for Ermelinda Garcia, 73, of Portales will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, December 6, 2024, in the Portales Cemetery.
Ermelinda Garcia, or Linda as she was known to most, was born Feb. 26, 1951 in San Antonio de Bravo, Mexico while her parents, Maria Urias (Esqueda) and Jose Gonzalez Tarango were there visiting, and died on the evening of Nov. 28, 2024 in Portales. Linda received most of her schooling in Floyd. She attended classes at Eastern New Mexico University for about two years. In 1968, she was married to Jimmy Garcia. Linda worked for several years at the Borden Peanut Company. Linda attended different Pentecostal churches in town. For enjoyment, Linda loved music and dancing. She also enjoyed playing the piano and guitar, singing gospel songs and baking.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Analiyah Garcia, Gabriel Garcia and Christopher Gonzales; four sisters, Jane Tarango, Virginia Gallegos and Tina Tarango of Portales and Nicky Mondragon of Clovis; three brothers, Chris "Cruz" Tarango of Portales, Jesse Tarango of Andrews, TX and Manuel "J. R." Tarango of Moses Lake, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother; Raymond Tarango, two sisters; Socorro Franco, Guadalupe Tarango, and by her Baby Girl Garcia and only son, Ivan Roy Garcia who died in 2007.
