Eva Laverne Lee Obituary

No services are planned at present for Laverne Lee.  Eva Laverne Lee, known to virtually everyone as Laverne, was born Oct. 29, 1935 in Olton, TX to the home of Zelta Maye (Bell) and James Orby Phillips, and died on the evening of Aug. 2, 2021 as the result of an automobile accident.  Laverne grew up in Rogers, and graduated from Rogers High School in 1953.  She went on to attend Wayland Baptist University in Plainview.  She returned to Causey to make her home until her death.

She held the School Bus contract for the Dora Schools for 30 years.  In addition she farmed and ranched until 2008.  Laverne was very involved in the community, serving on the Causey Village Council, as President of the Causey Homemaker's Club, as President of the Causey Woman's Club, President of the Causey Home Extension Club, Secretary for the Causey Water Association, President of the All School Reunion, a member of the Roosevelt County Fair Board, and Superintendant of the Handiwork for the County Fair.  Somehow, she also found time to travel with the Good Sams and play cards and dominos.

Laverne was married first to Justin William Lee.  He preceded her in death, and she later married A. J. Blackman.  Following his death she was married to Rash Burnett who has also preceded her in death.  She is survived by her children, Jimmy and Linda Lee of Twin Falls, ID, Loretta Dicus of Causey, Jearl Lee of Causey and Jorby Lee of Portales; 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clyde Phillips of Rogers.  Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
