Garry started his schooling in Dora, but in 1952 the family moved to Portales. He was a member of the Baptist church, and in recent years had become a devoted reader of his Bible. In addition, Garry was an avid reader of all sorts of books. Throughout his lifetime, Garry ranched and farmed. For a number of years, he and his father owned a number of trucks which they leased to the State of New Mexico to be used in road construction. His real passion was for horses, and particularly racehorses. Through the years Garry had broken a number of horses for various individuals. Garry was also artistically talented, and had created a number of paintings and leather crafts. He was a very caring man, and was always ready and willing to help anyone he thought was in need – often to his own disadvantage.
Garry is survived by a brother, and sister-in-law, Darwin and Susan Ward of Gonzales, TX; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverley and Joe Bryant of Portales; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and even great-great-nieces and nephews; his former wife, Patsy Davenport of Roswell and a daughter, Terresa of Roswell.
