She was born August 17,1932 to Ruth and Alvin Culpepper in Clovis, New Mexico. She married Jack Jennings on July 16th, 1950. They moved to a farm and ranch 10 miles from House, New Mexico. Helen enjoyed being a wife, mother, housewife, cooking, oil painting, flower arranging, sewing, crocheting, needle point, playing the piano, playing the organ, singing, making lamps, organizing things, cleaning her house, and raising their 4 children. Helen was very talented and could make anything she put her mind to whether it was building furniture or making Christmas decorations. She was very talented in whatever she did.

Helen and Jack raised their children in the House Baptist Church where Jack led the singing and Helen played the piano. They moved to Portales in 1971 and continued serving the Lord at University Baptist Church with Jack leading the singing and Helen playing the piano part-time.

Helen enjoyed playing games with her kids from playing cards, dominos, and especially Wahoo (Murder Marbles) we would play for hours and laugh and cut up. Helen was so witty and loved to laugh with her kids and family. She loved having big family dinners and doing all the cooking. We loved her homemade rolls, cinnamon rolls, everything she cooked was always so good. She made the best desserts from cakes, pies, you name it. Growing up she always made homemade biscuits, made butter, syrup, pancakes. Because you couldn’t run to the grocery store because we were 65 miles from Clovis.

She was supportive of everything we did and would always be there for all of us. She was our best friend as well as our mother. We all knew we could always talk to Mother.
