Humberto Terrazas Pillado

A service to honor the memory of Humberto Pillado, 65, of Portales, will be held at 4:00 PM, Sat., Feb. 13, 2021 at the family home, 601 N. Ave A, in Portales with his son, Miguel Garza officiating.

Humberto Terrazas Pillado was born Mar. 25, 1955 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to the home of Rita (Villa) and Luis Pillado, and died at his home in Portales on Feb. 11, 2021.  At the age of 17, he came to the United States, and began working as a brick layer in the Odessa, TX area.  Through the ensuing years he worked in various places across the western U.S. laying brick.  In 1984 he moved to Portales.  During his remaining years of work he worked for several different construction companies including Rod McDermid, Eddie Armijo and Moyer Construction.  He had been retired since 2017.  He always enjoyed building, and had completely redone his home with various additions and renovations.

In the early 1980's, he met his wife, Maria, and they were married on June 23, 1995.  He was a devoted 49'ers football fan.

He is survived by his wife, Maria of their home; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Miguel and Eunice Garza of Portales, Oscar Pillado of Chihuahua, Mexico and Humberto Pillado, Jr. of Portales; two daughters, Blanca Larez and Perla Pillado and her companion, Carlos Piedra all of Odessa, TX; nine grandchildren, Danae (Bryan) Schuler, Miguel (Rylie) Garza, Mikaela Garza, Analicia Piedra and her companion, Alan Vidal, Laura Piedra, Yesenia Piedra, Fabian Nunez, Kristian Dutchover, and Reyna Dutchover as well as others in Mexico; four great-grandchildren, Natalie Schuler, Kade Schuler, Alina Piedra and Cataliya Ramirez; his mother, Rita Villa of Portales; a brother, Jose Luis Pillado of Odessa, TX; and five sisters, Beatrice Pillado and Raquel Pillado both of Portales, Alicia Pillado of Presidio, TX, Josephine Lozano of Midland, TX and Elizabeth Paniagua of Lake Jackson, TX.  He was preceded in death by his father, Luis Pillado.
