James (Jimmy) Pendergraft Obituary

James "Jimmy" Lynn Pendergraft, 70, of Portales, passed away on August 23, 2019, in Portales. He was born on August 19, 1949, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the home of Anna Belle (Lewis) and Robert Carl Pendergraft.

Jimmy proudly served in the United States Army. He served three tours in Vietnam as a door gunner in a helicopter. He received a Bronze Star, a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal, an Army Commendation Medal with valor, an Air Medal with valor and a Sharpshooter (Rifle) Medal. Jimmy enjoyed gardening and loved animals. He was greatly loved by all of his family and friends.

Survivors include his siblings, Robin Perdergraft and wife Nancy, Suzann Williams and husband Jerry, Nancy Montgomery, Kelly Pendergraft and wife Laura, Carl Pendergraft and wife Pat and Jon Eric Pendergraft and wife Jutta, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Hiteman Pendergraft and his parents.

A memorial service for Jimmy will be held at a later date.
