Jane Scott Obituary

Jane Scott, 82, passed away in Clovis, NM on Jan. 18, 2023.  Memorial services will be held Jan. 28, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Don Thomas officiating.  Nicky Millar, Marty Millar along with all of her grandchildren and many special family friends, Kendell Buzard, Teri Thatcher, Paula Foley, Joel Green, Vicki Musick, James Naimi, Mark Littlejohn, Pat Dodson and Ginger Fowler will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Margaret Jane Scott was born to the home of James Guy and Nettie Rebecca (Lowe) Millar on Oct. 4, 1940 in Levelland, TX.  Jane grew up in Maple, TX and attended school in Three Way, TX.  In Sept. 1957, she married Win Askew.  They made their home in Causey, NM until 1973, when the family moved to Portales, NM.

On Dec. 31, 1982 she married Jim Scott.  She was a very elegant lady, and retained her youthful appearance throughout her lifetime.  Jane was a meticulous housekeeper, and an excellent cook.  She enjoyed interior decorating projects.  Jane had a very fun-loving personality, and was always cheerful and loved to laugh and tease her family and friends.

In addition to her own children, Jane had many “adopted children and grandchildren.”  She loved spending time in Ruidoso, NM with her grandchildren, and attending their sporting events and activities.

She is survived by Jim Scott, her husband of 40 years; her son, Van Askew of Portales; three daughters, Exa Kay (Randy) Mitchell of Clovis, NM, Edie Gay (Jason) Renfro also of Clovis, NM and Jan (Blake) Bunch of Madison, AL; a step-son, David (Rene) Scott of Scottsdale, AZ; and her pride and joy, seven grandchildren, Blakeley Bunch, Marc (Amanda) Haufmann, Ky (Rebekah) Mitchell, Rhet Roberts and partner (Kevin Pate), Macy (Micah) McCoy, Kanyon Renfro and Dylan Bunch; five great-grandchildren, Zander Fleming, Mila Mitchell, Miles Mitchell, Owen Haufmann and Jade McCoy; a brother, Jimmy Millar of Ruidoso, NM; and her former husband, Win Askew of Clovis, NM.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and brother John Wayne Millar.
