PLACED AS A COURTESY
Jerry Dan Milner was born September 25, 1940, in Levelland, Texas to Lewis Edwin and Annie Jewel Milner, and passed away April 11, 2026, after a long illness at the VA Medical Center in Amarillo, Texas at the age of 85.
Jerry was a cowboy. He grew up training horses and working cattle and was very good at it. After time spent in the Army, Jerry came home and married Carol Jones of Roswell in 1965. He went on to manage the SEA Cattle Company ranch, and he and Carol raised three children there along the Pecos River. Traveling long distances getting their children to school, activities and to church was their mutual commitment. In 1997 they moved to Portales where Jerry became a real estate broker and appraiser for many years. Jerry enjoyed a good poker game and a good meal. He also enjoyed roping and playing basketball with his children.
He leaves behind his wife, Carol, daughter Dawn Michele (Wendell) Brown and two sons, Mark Daniel (Dena) Milner and Michael Stanley Milner. Also, granddaughters, Leslie (Shane) Shepperd, Rebekah Brown and Bonnie (Mason) Ehrhart and grandsons Ben Brown and Bobby (Emily) Milner and six great-grandchildren, Saige, Kason, Joseph, William, Ryker and Aleta as well as his older sister Mary Lewis of Hereford, Texas. Jerry’s parents preceded him in death as well as his sister Peggy Sue Reed.
Jerry was honored by a ceremony of taps played as his fellow veterans saluted him and he was escorted out of the VA Medical Center draped in the United States flag. His family will forever be grateful for the exceptional care he received while there.
There will be no services as Jerry decided years ago to donate to the Texas Tech Health Sciences Willed Body Program. Cremation will follow.
