Graveside services for Jerry Skinner, 82, of Dora, will be held at 10:00 AM, Mon., April 13, 2026, in the Mt. Zion Cemetery with Myrle Roehr and Tilt James officiating. Adam Skinner, Chance Skinner, Stuart Brooks, Shane Dill, Trey Buras, Jesse Clark, Brady Stroup and Mickey Burkett will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 PM.
Jerry Wayne Skinner was born April 4, 1944, in Portales to the home of Wilma Margarette (Hays) and Mark Seetin Skinner and passed from this life on the evening of April 7, 2026, at his home in Dora. Jerry graduated from Dora High School in 1962. During his school career he played both baseball and basketball and was the only All American in basketball to ever graduate from Dora. Following high school, he attended LCU and later ACC where he continued to play basketball. Jerry graduated in 1966 with a degree in Education, planning to coach. However, instead he worked as several different jobs before returning to Dora in 1990 to ranch.
On Sept. 1, 2000, at the Dora Church of Christ he was married to Myra Clark. Jerry was a devoted husband and father and faithfully followed all of his children’s rodeo activities. He was a devoted member of the Dora Church of Christ.
He is survived by Myra, his wife of more than 25 years of their home; four sons and daughters-in-law, Adam and Jennifer Skinner of Fort Worth, TX, Chance and Tracie Skinner of Fort Worth, TX, Jesse and Jessy Clark of Canyon, TX, and Shane and Nikki Dill of Wilmer, MN; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kellye and Stuart Brooks of Aledo, TX and Kassandra and Trey Buras of Portales; 14 grandchildren and two more expected soon; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis Stroup of Dora. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
