Juan Martinez Tarango, Jr.

The Mass of the Resurrection for Juan M. Tarango, Jr., 50, of Portales will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Fri., Sept. 19, 2025 at St. Helen Catholic Church by Fr. Francisco Carbajal.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery.

Juan Martinez Tartango, Jr. was born Oct. 3, 1974 in Muleshoe, TX to the home of Maria Paulina Martinez and Juan Tarango, and died on the evening of Sept. 12, 2025 in Portales.  Juan lived his early years in Lovington, NM, but moved to Portales to make his home in 1991.  During his working years, Juan had worked as a brick layer, did cement work, was an electrician's helper, and his last job was at a local tire shop.  Juan enjoyed traveling and listening to music.

He is survived by his mother, Maria Tarango of Portales; his girlfriend, Maria Chavez; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Aaron and Karen Tarango of Lovington and K. Tarango of Portales; two grandchildren, Ayden and Avian Tarango;  three brothers, Francisco, Jaime and Marcelo Tarango all of Portales; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Maribel Tarango and Lupe and Michael Ramirez also of Portales.  He was preceded in death by his father on Nov. 6, 2004 and by a daughter, Mireya Tarango who died Aug. 17, 2006.
