Lazara (Ortiz) Rodriguez-Ramos

Funeral services for Lazara Rodriguez de Ramos, 91, of Portales will be held at 2:00 PM, Sat., May 10, 2025 at the Church of God of First Born, 1520 N. Main with Pastor David Viera officiating.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Israel Macias, David Jose Viera, Abraham Viera, Micah Viera, Cameron King and Geronimo Macias serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Rodriguez de Ramos was born Jan. 27, 1934 in Ziete Sacales, Durango, Mexico to the home of Manuela Ortiz and Jacobo Rodriguez, and died at her home in Portales on the morning of May 8, 2025.  On April 22, 1949, she was married to Geronimo Ramos Cabello.  They moved to Portales to make their home in 2005.  Making a home and caring for her family was the joy of her life.  She loved to attend church services where her son-in-law was the minister.  The family especially remembers her wonderful red chili.

She is survived by Geronimo Ramos Cabella, her husband of more than 76 years; a son, Javier Ramos of Portales; nine daughters, Perfeta Soto of Mexico, Maximiliana Ramos of San Antonio, TX, Maria Martinez of Del Rio, TX, Julia Martinez of San Antonio, TX, Josefa Carreon of Dallas, TX, Adriana Ramos Rodriguez of Mexico, Martha Ramos Rodriguez of Portales, Guadelupe Viera of Portales and Maria Guitierrez of Portales; 60 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters, and a son, Antonio Ramos.
