Lucia (Castillo) Chavez

A graveside service for Lucia Chavez, 70, of Elida will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 8,2021 at the Elida Cemetery with Fr. Francisco Carbajal officiating.  Pallbearers will be Juan Diego Chavez, Jorge Chavez, Jesse Ward, Miguel Chavez, Juaquin Castillo and Julio Castillo.

Lucia Chavez was born on December 13, 1950 in San Antonio Del Bravo Chihuahua, Mexico to the home of Virginia (Jimenez) and Librado Castillo, and died on January 3, 2021 in Albuquerque.  She grew up in Mexico and moved to the United States in 1969 and married Juan De Dios Chavez on December 24, 1969, in Fort Sumner. New Mexico.   

Lucia worked at Allsup's in Elida for 21 years.  She took care of kids at the First Baptist Church in Elida.  She was a member at the Community Center in Elida.     Lucia was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church.  She was a very friendly, loving and outgoing person and was always recognizable by her little blue Gilligan's hat.

She is survived by two sons, Juan Diego Chavez and Jorge Chavez; one daughter, Maria Chavez; two grandchildren, Marinda Chavez and Miguel Chavez; two great grandchildren, Juan Gabriel Chavez and Allyanna Yvette Chavez; two brothers, Polo Castillo and Julio Castillo, and three sisters, Jesus Baeza, Geneva Ornelas and Gloria Castillo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Charlie Castillo.
