Manuel Rodriguez

The Mass of the Resurrection for Manuel Rodriguez, 62, of Portales will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Tues., Sept. 15, 2020 at St. Helen Catholic Church with Deacon Daniel Chavez officiating.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Mauel Rodriguez, Jr., Marco Rodriguez, Miguel A. Rodriguez, Juan Villegas, Isias Villalba and Gerzain Martinez serving as pallbearers.

Manuel Rodriguez was born October 28, 1957, in Rancho LaMolina, Chihuahua, Mexico to the home of Maria Isabel (Saenz Najera) and Marcos Rodriguez Ortiz and died at his home in Portales on Sept. 10, 2020.  Mr. Rodriguez came to Clovis, NM at the age of 18, and worked on local farms and at various dairies.  On April 21, 1978, in Portales, he was married to Virginia Lopez.  He enjoyed taking care of his goats, and chickens and horses, and riding his horses.  His family said that his "full time job" was being husband, father and grandfather.  He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church.

He is survived by Virginia, his wife of more than 42 years of their home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Manuel Rodriguez, Jr. and wife Patricia of Portales, Marco Antonio and Anna Rodriguez of Roswell, and Miguel A. and Nancy Rodriguez of Portales; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maribel and Isias Villalba of Oklahoma City, OK and Isabel and Juan Villegas of Portales; 13 grandchildren, two brothers, Lazaro Rodriguez of Cactus, TX and Monse Rodriguez of Chihuahua, Mexico and two sisters, Enriqueta Rivero of Portales and Rosa Estrello of Chihuahua, Mexico.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Santos Rodriguez.
