Maria Estella (Caro) Olivas

The Rosary for Estella Olivas, 72, of Portales, will be at 7:00 PM, Wed., June 26, 2019 at St. Helen Catholic Church.  The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Thurs., June 27, 2019 at St. Helen Catholic Church by Fr. Francisco Carbajal.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Victor Olivas, Fabian Olivas, Anthony Olivas, John Bonifant, Andy Acnchondo and Charlie Caro.

Maria Estella Olivas was born May 29, 1947 in Cuauhtemoc, MX to the home of Belem Quintana and Tito Caro, and died June 23, 2019 in Clovis, NM.  In April of 1968 she was married to Socorro Olivas.  They came to Willard, NM in 1985.  In 1989 they returned to Moriarty, and in 1997 they moved to the Elida area.  In 2007, they moved their family to Portales.  Mrs. Olivas loved to improve her home, and create beautiful decorations to enhance it.  In addition she enjoyed sewing and knitting and having a large garden.  She loved her wide variety of pets.  Mrs. Olivas was also a great cook, and baker.

She is survived by her husband, Socorro of their home; three sons, Victor Olivas, Jose "Fabian" Olivas and Anthony Olivas all of Portales; two daughter and sons-in-law, Yesenia and Andy Anchondo of Roswell, NM and Kristie and John Bonifant of Portales; as well as a niece who was very close to her, Reyna Caro and her family of Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren, Alyssa and Brandon Anchondo and Thomas Bonifant; and a sister, Socorro Castillo of Rio Rancho, NM.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Amelia Legarda and a brother and sister that died as small children.
