Maria Esmenia (Lucero) Aranda

Funeral services for Maria Esmenia Aranda, 70, of Portales, will be held at 10:00 AM, Tues., Oct. 20, 2020 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Pete Jaramillo officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Corralez, Peter Avery, Shannon Lopez, Thomas Villa, Anthony Aranda, Johnny Lucero, Jimmy Lucero and Phil Duran.

Maria Esmenia Aranda was born on April 27th, 1950 in Portales New Mexico to the home of Ricarda Maria (Aguilar) Lucero and Jose Lucero. Esmenia died on October 15th, 2020 in Clovis New Mexico. She was the most loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones everyday of her life, especially with her sister Irene Lucero. If you couldn’t find her at home she was usually out visiting family and friends! Esmenia also worked in upholstery and at the peanut mill years earlier. Her faith in God was extremely strong she loved praying for everyone in her life.

Esmenia is survived by her children, Lalo Aranda Jr. of Portales, Ector Ray Aranda of Portales, Vickie Carmen Aranda of Portales, Shannon Lopez of Pueblo, CO and, Naomi Aranda of Denver, CO; 13 grandchildren and, 8 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Irene Lucero of Portales, Phillip Duran of Portales, Virginia and Thomas Villa of Pascagoula, MS, Jimmy and Rosina Lucero of Portales, Johnny and Sara Lucero of Portales and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Ricarda Maria (Aguilar) Lucero and Jose Lucero, a sister Cecilia Lucero, and a brother David Aguilar.
