Memorial services for Marilyn Aguirri, 63, formerly of Portales will be held at 2:00 PM, Thurs., Dec. 2, 2021 at the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Portales with Pastor Kelly Fulfer officiating.  Interment of her cremains will follow in the Portales Cemetery with her grandsons, Bryan Couch, Jr., Agustin Jimenez, Jayven Couch Cruz Jimenez, Ricky Mata and Ayden Couch serving as honorary pallbearers.  Visitation will be on Tues., Nov. 30, 2021 at Wheeler Mortuary from 8 AM until 8 PM.

Marilyn Jean Aguirri was born Sept. 16, 1958 in San Francisco, CA to the home of Miriam Jolly (Nix) and Phillip Aguirri, and died early on the morning of Nov. 24, 2021 in Albuquerque, NM.  Most of Marilyn's early years were spent in Portales.  She was a 1976 graduate of Portales High School.  Following graduation, she attended Nursing school in Amarillo, but decided that it was not suited to her.  For several years she was employed in the Admissions Office at Eastern New Mexico University.  For the past several years she has been unable to work due to her health conditions.  In 2020, she moved to Logan to make her home.

Marilyn enjoyed listening to music as well as growing plants and flowers in her garden.  She also liked to create in the kitchen.  She was a very sociable woman, and always enjoyed being with family and friends.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan and Nong Couch of Terrell, TX and Jon and Candace Couch of Forney, TX; a daughter, Melanie Aguirri and her companion, David Childress of Clovis; nine grandchildren, Cheyenne Jimenez, Agustin Jimenez, Cruz Jimenez, Bryan Couch, Jr., Jayven Couch, Ricky Mata, Marissa Mata, Ayden Couch and Trevyn Couch; two great-grandchildren, Liam and River Welty and another expected shortly; a brother, William Aguirri of Minneapolis, MN; her best friend, Carolyn Knowles of Portales; and her two beloved dogs, Jazzy and Bella.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Kenneth and Jerry Aguirri.
