Mary Jane "Janie" (Finical) Hamar

Public visitation for Janie Hamar will begin at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 16, 2025 at Wheeler Mortuary in Portales.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Tues., June 17, 2025 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with her husband, Duane Hamar and Scott P. Reeves officiating.  Burial will be in the Portales Cemetery with Tyler Hamar, Clifton Roberts, Roger Gillespie, James "Jim" Finical, Terry Roberts and Shane Lee serving as pallbearers.

Mary Jane (Finical) Hamar, Janie, recently of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025, at her home in Albuquerque, NM. Janie was born on August 14, 1953, in Charleston, Illinois to Dr. James E. and Mary (Pfiester) Finical. She married Duane Hamar on October 27, 2007. Janie graduated from Portales High School in 1971 and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wayland Baptist University in 1992. She was a member of Phi Beta Lambda.
Janie was a member of the Albuquerque Sagebrush Church. She derived great joy from her family, professional work, and the personal relationships formed when she was employed by: Portales National Bank; South Plains Health Providers of Plainview, Texas; Lovelace Hospital of Albuquerque; Anesthesia Specialists of Albuquerque; Presbyterian Medical Services of Albuquerque; and as a Certified Tax Specialist at H&R Block in Albuquerque.
Janie loved her dogs, Hallmark movies, the beach, swimming, and soaking up the sun. She was an amateur triathlete, avid photographer, and “Collector of All Things.” She unconditionally loved her family and friends fiercely and selflessly. Everyone that knew Janie, loved her. Janie is preceded in death by her parents Dr. James E. and Mary (Pfiester) Finical; her son, Clinton Don Roberts; brother, Timothy E. Finical; and her beloved dogs, A.J. and Sasha Hamar.
Janie is survived by her daughter, Tina A. Kruse of Crestview, FL; her son, Clifton M. Roberts of Seaford, DE; a step-son, Tyler Hamar of Portales; her sister Marjorie Gillespie of Rio Rancho, NM; three brothers, Jim E. Finical, Jr. of Albuquerque; Kim P. Finical of Phoenix, AZ; and Harold R. Finical of Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Janie has 7.7 grandchildren: Leah McGuffie, Nathan Egbert, Kelsey Egbert, Hayden Kruse, Hailey Kruse, Maddox Kruse, Kenleigh Roberts, and Theodore Roberts; and 3.9 great grandchildren, Charlie Dunigan, Liliann Crawford, Jordan Sipes-Hall, and Caden Sipes-Hall, and two beloved dogs, Sammy and Sophie.
