Octavio Martinez Ornelas

The viewing for Octavio Martinez Ornelas, 86, of Monahans. TX, will be Thurs, January 29th 2026 at Wheeler Mortuary in Portales. Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thurs., Jan. 29, 2026 with Pastor Olmedo Tirone officiating.  Burial will be in the Portales Cemetery with Jorge Carrasco, Christian Martinez, Jose Martinez Jr., Orlando Martinez, Hector Martinez, and Daniel Lopez serving as pallbearers. All of his family and friends will be honorary pallbearers.

Octavio was born June 4th,1939 in Ojinaga, Mexico to the home of Leon and Theresa Ornelas Martinez, he raised 6 children and worked in livestock all his life.

He is survived by three sons, Octavio Martinez, Jr. and wife Olga of Portales, Angel Martinez and wife Anna of Portales, and Alfredo Martinez, and wife, Isabel; two daughters, Nivia Carrasco and husband, Javier of Monahans, and Sylvia Lopez and husband, Manuel of Portales; 11 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews and three brothers, Ruben Martinez of Juarez, Delores Martinez of Guymon, OK and Hector Martinez of Portales. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Eugenio, Lupe and Manuel Martinez and a sister, Julia Urias.
