Randal "Randy" Lee Burnett

Memorial services for Randal Burnett, 66, of Portales, will be held at 10:00 AM, Tues., April 4, 2023 at Third and Kilgore Church of Christ with his two brothers, Curtis and Ronnie Burnett officiating.

Randal Lee Burnett, 66 of Portales, NM was born April 20, 1956, in Albuquerque, to the home of Rose Carlene (Brown) and Charles Stewart Burnett. He passed from this life early on the morning of March 28, 2023. Randy, as everyone knew him, grew up in Albuquerque, and was a 1974 graduate of Rio Grande High School.  He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern New Mexico in Business Administration in 1978, and received his Certified Public Accountant’s license in 1983. Through the ensuing years, hundreds of local residents relied on him for their accounting needs and financial advice. His knowledge and wisdom was invaluable to his clients. Randy ran his own accounting practice for most of his career and was highly dedicated to his work.

Randy was an avid hunter, and enjoyed hunting trips with his son, family, and close friends. His home and office were decorated with several of his trophies. In addition, he enjoyed golfing, spending time in the mountains of Pendaries, and had recently discovered a love of woodworking at his and Kay's cabin in Cloudcroft.

On Sept. 13, 2019 he married Kay Ingalls Davis in Pendaries, NM. Randy’s greatest enjoyment came from spending time with Kay and their children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; his daughter Savannah Luce and husband, Bryan Luce, daughter Sarah Allred and husband, Joseph Allred, son Stewart Burnett and wife, Zaryah all of Edgewood, NM; Jana Wieger and husband, Thomas of Amarillo, TX, Julie Dewbre and husband, Brandon of Rogers, NM, and Jennifer Davis of Amarillo, TX; his fourteen grandchildren, Rustin, Slayton and Makenna Luce, Reagan, Sonya and Roman Allred, Rachel, Rebekah and Zaylee Burnett, Aden and Kaylee Wieger, and Zachary, Kolton and Kinley Dewbre; his mother, Carlene Burnett of Datil, NM; brother Curtis Burnett and wife Cindy of Albuquerque, NM, brother Ronnie Burnett and wife Mahona of Datil, NM, sister Rhonda Candelaria and husband Frank of Aztec, NM, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other family members. Randy was preceded in death by his father, Charles Burnett on August 18, 2011.
