A memorial service for Jake Bargas, 82, currently of Clovis, NM will be announced at a later time.
Reinaldo Jacobo Bargas, known to family and friends alike as Jake, was born Aug. 11, 1939 in Logan, NM to the home of Monica (Gallegos) and Cristobal Bargas and died at his home in Clovis on April 8, 2022. He moved to Clovis, and then moved to work on the Stateline Farms. He later returned to Clovis, and it was there that he was married to Madeline Lucero on Dec. 29, 1955. For the next several years he continued to do farm and ranch work until moving to Barstow, CA in 1962. While living in California, Mr. Bargas became a heavy equipment operator. In 2005 he returned to Portales to make his home. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church.
Mr. Bargas enjoyed doing mechanic work and keeping a beautiful yard. He was always cleaning things up to make them better. For relaxation he liked to watch western movies on television.
He is survived by his daughter, Merlinda Sena of Clovis; four grandchildren, Fernando (Monique) Perez, Sylvia Perez, Kristina (Dionna) Thorntonberry and Maricella (Manny) Silva; 10 great-grandchildren, Jacob (Vianney), Ryan, Khloe, Tatiana, Fernando, Makayla, Jasmine, Sylvar Marie, and Gabriel ; two great-great-grandchildren, Anthony and Emrys; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Rafaela Bargas of Riverside, CA and Jim and Esther Bargas of Portales; and two sisters, Dolores Rodriguez of Rio Rancho, NM and Yvonne Hasham of Azuza, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a stillborn daughter, Monica Bargas, and by his wife, Madeline who died Oct. 31, 2012.
