Richard Martinez Obituary

Ricardo Martinez was born June 27, 1950 in Sinton, TX to the home of Cruz (Para) and Modesto Martinez and died Dec. 26, 2021 in Portales, NM.  When he was a boy, his family moved to Anton, TX where he spent his early years.  As he grew up he worked with his family in the cotton fields and farmed.  In 1968 in Anton, he was married to Martha Lovelle Truitt.  Together they had six children.  They later divorced.  In 1980, he moved to Portales, where he met Jimmy Raynell Davis, and they were married in 1981.  She preceded him in death on April 3, 2011.

During his lifetime he had worked on dairies for Stanley Jones and later at Anderson Dairy.  In 1990, he began driving trucks for Sun Mark Grain.  He had driven trucks for 25 years for CFI, Inc of Joplin, MO.  During those years, he had been in all 49 states and much of Canada.  He enjoyed seeing the scenery, and experiencing the various parts of the country.  For relaxation, Richard enjoyed fishing and gardening, or going to casinos and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was a very loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by two sons, Michael Martinez of Tucumcari, NM and Richard Martinez, Jr. of Fort Worth, TX; four daughters, Rosinda Martinez of Portales, Rose Marie Martinez of Abilene, TX, Mary Jane Martinez of Fort Worth, TX and Rebecca Martinez of Fort Worth, TX; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; six brothers, Modesto Martinez, Jr, Robert Martinez, and Samuel Martinez all of Portales, Daniel Martinez and Ray Martinez both of Anton, TX and Manuel Martinez of Shallowater, TX; four sisters, Angie Martinez, Janie Martinez, Susie Martinez and Norma Martinez all of Anton, TX.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Calvin Gray and by his wife, Jimmy Raynell.
