Ricky Cruz

The Rosary for Ricky Cruz, 52, of Portales will be recited at 9:00 AM, Mon., July 15, 2024 at St. Helen Catholic Church.  Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 AM by Fr. Sotero Sena.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Ervey Cruz, Edgar Cruz, Elijah Montano, Jaime Galindo, Santos Quiroz, Gonzalo Sanchez and Mathias Galindo serving as pallbearers.

Ricky Cruz was born Sept. 26, 1971 to Joe Martinez and Nancy Cruz and died in Portales on July 10, 2024.  Ricky was married to Anna Madrid on July 29, 1993.  The couple made their home in Mineral Wells, TX, and together they had two sons and two daughters.  One of their daughters, Gabriella died as an infant in 2001.  In 2006, Ricky returned to Portales to make his home.  For the past 14 years, he had been employed at J. D. Heiskell, where he mixed livestock feed.  He always enjoyed working on cars and mechanics.  Ricky was a very outgoing and friendly man who had a heart of gold, and would do anything he could for anyone.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Cruz of Mineral Wells, TX; two sons, Ervey Ricky Cruz and Edgar Cruz both of Mineral Wells; a daughter, Daniella Cruz also of Mineral Wells; nine grandchildren; his mother and step-father, Nancy and Edward Sanchez of Portales; two brothers, David Sanchez of Portales and Jesse Sanchez of Mineral Wells; four sisters, Angela Galindo of Aledo, TX, Veronica Montano of Portales, Cathy Sanchez of Clovis and Valerie Hernandez of Sunland Park, NM, and five half sisters, Michelle Martinez, Marcela Martinez, Josie Martinez, Jennifer Betterton and Misty Martinez.  He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Martinez.
