Rosa Lee Velasquez

     The Mass of the Resurrection for Rosa Lee Velasquez, 61, of Portales, will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at St Helen Catholic Church with Fr. Francisco Carbajal officiating.  The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 26, 2019.

     Rosa Lee Velasquez was born on March 20, 1958, in Portales, New Mexico to the home of Manuelita (Saiz) and Tomas Velasquez and died on November 19, 2019 in Portales.

     She graduated from Portales High School in 1977. Shortly after worked at Levi Strauss. She worked numerous jobs throughout her life like Family Planning, Allsups, Super 8 Motel as a housekeeper, and Community Services Center as a Homecare Program Assistant. Rosa Lee loved video games, Solitare, plants, frogs, crossword puzzles, boardgames, and most of all she loved her grandchildren. Her kindness, love, and laughter touched the lives of many people over the years, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

      Rosa Lee survived by her sons Marcos Velasquez of Portales, NM, Christopher Velasquez of Mission,TX, daughter-in-law Lizette Garcia also of Mission,TX. Her five grandchildren Isabella, Isaac, Elijah, James Velasquez all of Mission,TX and Alondra Aragon of Portales, NM. She is also survived by her four sisters Gloria ( Isidro ) Rivero, Anna Velasquez ( Julian Carasco ) all of Portales, NM. Mary Helen ( Joe ) Rodriguez, Macé ( Jimmy ) Polk all of Clovis, NM. Her two brothers Federico ( Lydia ) Garcia of Incino,NM and Rudy ( Librada ) Velasquez of San Angelo, TX.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Aurelia Barela, Cora Chavez, Evangeline Ramierez, and brother Jose Orlando Velasquez.
