Rosa Maria Viera Moreno

Funeral services for Rosa Maria Viera Moreno, 61, of Portales will be held at 10:00 AM, Thurs, Nov. 10, 2022 at the Church of the First Born with Pastor David Viera officiating, assisted by Pastor George Viera.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Moises Viera III, Jose Viera, Jr., Joe Fred Martinez, Jr., Mario Montoya, Jordan Duke, Jarahdan Duke, Joan Rodriguez and German Rodriguez, Jr. serving as pallbearers.  In addition, there will be a prayer service in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel at 4:00 PM, Wed., Nov. 9, 2022.

Rosa Maria Viera Moreno was born Oct. 23, 1961 in Big Spring, TX to the home of Alvina (Vallejo) and Moises Viera, and died on Mon. afternoon, Nov. 7, 2022 in Clovis, NM.  The family moved to Portales when she was a young girl.  Rosa was a 1981 graduate of Portales High School.  She went on to study for a time at Eastern New Mexico University.  For most of her working life she was employed at local peanut processing plants.  Since about 2010 she had been unable to work due to physical conditions.

Rosa was a member of the Church of the First Born, and loved to read her Bible.  Family was very important in her life, and she always enjoyed the special times with her siblings and her nieces and nephews.  On many occasions they made family trips to go fishing.  When she was at home she did a lot of crafts.  She was a very tenderhearted lady that was always ready to help however she was able.

She is survived by three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Moises Viera, Jr and Joe and Leticia Viera of Portales and German and Anabel Rodriguez of Monahans, TX; a sister and brother-in-law, Isabel and Alfredo Martinez of Portales; thirteen nieces and nephews, Crystal Duke, Marissa Castillo, Jose Martinez, Jr., Jose Viera, Jr., Moises Viera III, Lezli Viera, Mariana Viera, Ilse Viera, Jacob Viera, Mario Montoya, German Rodriguez, Jr., Joan Rodriguez, and Gabby Rodriguez; and numerous grand nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Arturo Viera.
