Roy Lujan Courtney

A celebration of  the life of Roy Lujan Courtney will be held at a 10:00 AM, Monday, September 20, 2021, at Third & Kilgore Church of Christ with Pastor Jonathan Neely officiating.  Pallbearers will be Roy Leonel Courtney, Jerald Courtney, Shan Courtney, Efrain Lujan, Felipe Alvarez, Alvaro Alvarez, Alfonso Rodriguez and Fili Diaz.

Roy Courtney, 41, of Abilene, was born on November 19, 1979, in Englewood, Colorado, to the home of Margarita (Lujan) and Roy Dexter Courtney, and died on September 11, 2021 in Portales. 

Roy grew up in Portales and attended Portales Schools. He later moved to Abilene, Texas and married Silvia Duran of Portales.  Roy worked as a welder.  He enjoyed barbecuing, listening to music, writing poems, telling stories his way with a spicy little lie and drinking beer.

Roy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy F. Courtney, Gwen Courtney, Epifania Melendez and Guillermo Lujan, his father, Roy D. Courtney, and his daughter, Demayana Courtney.

He is survived by his wife Silvia Courtney; his sons, Roy Leonel and Jerald Courtney; his daughter, Neveah Courtney; his mother, Margarita Courtney; his brother, Shan Courtney & wife Lauren; nieces, Rebekah, Makayla, Madison, Rylie, Rheagan, Spencer and Aubrey Courtney; his brother Cody Courtney, and other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many more family and friends.
