Scott Richard Long

Scott Richard Long, 54, of Portales, NM, passed away on June 1st, 2024. He was born on April 20, 1970 in Portales to Glen Long and Linda Long (Usrey). Scott worked at Privett Hatchery since he was 18 years old, working his way up to become a co-owner before finally (mostly) retiring in 2024. 

Scott recently began enjoying the benefits of retirement after a lifetime of hard work. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including racquetball, golf, pool, woodworking, fast cars, bourbon, traveling, and gathering with friends who became family. Scott’s favorite part of life was being the best “Dot” to his grandchildren and the greatest father his kids could ask for. 

Scott is survived by his life partner, Mikki Wade; his children, Megan Manasco, Sarah Long, and Kasye Long; their spouses, James Manasco, Joshua Longley, and Ross Steadman, respectively; his grandchildren, Tanner and Karyssa Manasco; his father Glen Long, his brother Curtis Long; and so many other family members, friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Long (Usrey). 

Scott will be remembered for his sincere kindness, boundless generosity, ageless wisdom, thoughtful creativity, and endless love for his friends and family.
