Sharon Jo (McAlister) Ferguson

Sharon Jo Ferguson, age 74, of Kermit, Texas, passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 26, 2021. She was born to Joe and Mary Lorene McAlister in El Centro, California on January 6, 1947. Sharon was a member of the 1965 Portales High School class.

She married James Allen Ferguson on August 15, 1964 in Portales, NM. Together they raised two children: Tim Ferguson and Shawna Doran.

She was loving, generous, and a kind mother and friend. She had many hobbies, but her favorite was china painting, and she belonged to many china painting clubs, primarily in Roswell, NM. She loved animals probably more than she loved people. Her favorite past time was spending time with the whole family during the holidays, and she always had the biggest smile when her family was together. Everyone that knew her knew how special she was and how she touched everyone’s heart.

Sharon is survived by her daughter Shawna Doran and husband Cody of Kermit, TX, 5 grandchildren, Mathew Ferguson and wife Megan, Sarah Ferguson, Tawny Rodriguez and husband Chris, Heston Doran, Nathan Ferguson, as well as her sister Mary Davis and husband Sam from Cortez, CO.

She was preceded in death by her husband James (Fergy) Ferguson, her son Tim Ferguson, her grandson Logan Ferguson, and her parents.

 Graveside Services will be held in Portales NM, Friday April 30th at 11 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary of Portales, NM.
