Theresa (Aragon) Lopez

The Rosary for Theresa Lopez, 63, of Portales will be recited at 9:00 AM, Mon., July 6, 2026 at St. Helen Catholic Church.  Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:00 AM with Fr. Francisco Carbajal officiating.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Xavier Lopez, Isaiah Pena, Amado Leal, Emilio Leal, Noel Chavez, Matt Hernandez, Cruz Bowman, Dayton Bowman and Marcos Lopez serving as pallbearers.

Theresa Lopez was born July 23, 1962 in Las Vegas, NM to the home of Julia (Lopez) and Ramon D. Aragon and passed from this life on the morning of July 2, 2026 at her home in Portales.  Her earliest years were in Villanueva.  In 1969, her family moved to Portales.  Theresa was a 1981 graduate of Portales High School.  In addition, Theresa had attended Eastern New Mexico University for three years.  In the summers, she enjoyed playing softball.

On May 12,1984 she was married to Rojelio "Roger" Lopez.  Her work life included being employed at the Selected Casings plant and later at Al's Custom Butchering.  Mrs. Lopez loved children.  That love led her to become a teacher's aide, a position she filled for 18 years.  Part of that time was at Brown Elementary and the rest at R. M. James school.  She took a Medical Retirement in 2016. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, listening to music and dancing.  She and her husband were members of St. Helen Catholic Church.  Mrs. Lopez was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by Roger, her husband of 42 years of their home; a son, Marcos Lopez of Socorro, NM; three daughters, Andrea and Jeremy Bowman of Ruthven, IA, Hillary Marie Lopez and Kimberly Leann Torres both of Lubbock, TX; nine grandchildren, Cruz, Dayton and Fabian Bowman, Xavier Lopez, Keyanna Shepherd, Isaiah Pena, Taliyah Lopez, and Kane and Penelope Torres; one great-grandchild, Amaya Bowman; a brother, Gilbert (Susie) Aragon of Clovis; and four sisters, Mabel Repetto of San Bruno, CA, Barbara Saiz of Midland, TX, Lorraine Leal of Portales and Susan Contreras of Midland, TX.  She was preceded in death by both of her parents.
