Tommy was born Nov. 18, 1950 in Portales to the home of Mildred Marie (Tivis) and Harley Delbert “Pug” Hill, and died Mar. 21, 2023 in Lubbock, TX.  Tommy grew up in Portales, and was a 1968 graduate of Portales High School.  Shortly after graduation he began working with his uncle Delbert Tivis at Pettigrew surveyors.  After a brief time there, he and two friends decided to work wheat harvest in Colorado.  When that job came to an end, he found work driving a truck.  In June of 1970, Tommy was drafted into the US Army, and following his basic training, was stationed in Fairbanks, AK.

Following his discharge in Dec. of 1971, he returned to Colorado for a brief time before taking a job driving for Jim Gilbert Trucking, and later with J. D. Ray Trucking.  In 1977 he took a job in Artesia, driving for Steer Trucking, and in 1980, he moved to Groendyke Trucking.  In 1981, he started with Navajo Refinery in Artesia as a truck driver.  In 1997, he transferred to the Hobbs location where he remained until his retirement in 2015 after 34 years with Navajo.

Tommy’s retirement years were spent relaxing and enjoying football, baseball and rodeos, and spending time with his grandchildren and adopted grandchildren.

He is survived by his brother, Andy Hill of Hobbs, NM; his sister, Rita Hill and her companion, Stan Mixon of Portales; two nieces, Laura Bouldin and Amy Stroud; two nephews, Jared (Lisha) Hill and Kale Hill; his step-daughter, Elizabeth (Jerry) Williams of Portales; four step-grandchildren, Michael, Samantha, Cody and Jory; and Seema and James Laws and their four children, Shanelle, Dallan, Bella and Bryson, a family of very close friends, that became like a daughter and son-in-law and grandchildren for him.  Tommy was preceded in death by both of his parents.
