Graveside services for Virgina Ray, 89, of Portales, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thurs., May 2, 2024 in the Portales Cemetery with Rev. Michael Kirby officiating. Stacy Wall, Trampas Callaway, Jaylin Brown, Craig Ray, Anton Goins, Gus Nickerson, Drayton Montez, Aiden Montez, Kalob Nichols, Kyle Nichols, Collin Nixon, Payton Callaway and Jaxon Callaway will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Virginia Lou Ray of Portales New Mexico left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on April 27, 2024. She was born March 26, 1935 in Elida, New Mexico to John and Edith Kinard. She married Warren Ray on January 16, 1985. They blended their families into one big family and together have 5 children; Coy Don Wall (Joy Wall) of Monahans, Texas, Lisa Michelle Fryer (Chuck Fryer) of Conchas Dam, New Mexico, Angela Montgomery (Justin Montgomery) of Pinon, New Mexico, BJ Ray (deceased), Samantha Dallas (Steven Dallas) of Clovis, New Mexico; 15 grandkids, 22 great grandkids, and 1 great-great grandkid. She loved being active and her favorite activity was gardening and being outdoors. One of their favorite things to do together was taking a trip to Ruidoso and dancing. She was always active in church for as long as she could be and loved getting together with friends in the church. She was always encouraging to her kids and grandkids to know the Lord and for them to find salvation in Him.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Edith Kinard, Robert Kinard, Sam Kinard, Walter Kinard, Edna Puppa, Nora Madrigal, Rosalee Williamson, Brandon Summers and BJ Ray.
