Wilhelmina (Mayer) Wickham

Wilhelmina Wickham (nee Mayer), age 94, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at Retirement Ranch, in Clovis, NM.

Born July 3, 1931, in Salzburg, Austria, Wilhelmina  was the daughter of Wilhelm and Pauline Mayer.  Her early and adult years in Austria instilled in her a deep sense of tradition and reverence that remained with her throughout her life.

Wilhelmina shared a devoted marriage with her husband, Robert Wickham until his passing.  They met in Austria when he was stationed there in the Army.  They made their home in America.  Together they raised three children, Robert Wilhelm Wickham, Elisabeth Knox and her husband, Dwight, and Susan Lundy and her husband, David.  She was a grandmother to Robbie, Laura, Calvin, Carl, Rachel, Gloria, Aaron, Amber and Joseph.  She had nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, infant son, Rene, parents, Wilhelm and Pauline Mayer, a sister, Trudi Waltrich, and granddaughter, Amber Lundy.

A woman of steadfast faith, Wilhelmina was a Traditional Roman Catholic, who found fulfillment teaching Catechism at Sacred Heart Church.  When she lived in Portales, NM her devotion to the Church was reflected in both her teachings and the quiet acts of piety that shaped her daily life - such as faithfully riding her bicycle to Mass.

Wilhelmina embraced her role as a homemaker with grace.  She especially loved decorating for the holidays and creating a warm and welcoming home for family and friends.  Her compassion extended to animals - particularly cats - she was known for never turning away a stray.  she also found peace in gardening, tending to vegetables and roses.

A Resurrection Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Helen Catholic Church in Portales, NM with a graveside serve to follow.

My Wilhelmina's enduring faith and gentle spirit continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
