William Roy Bevel III (Bill) was born to Betty Diann Shirley (Shields/Bevel), and William Roy Bevel II in Silver City, NM March 25, 1969. He was a friendly man all of his life who never met a stranger. If you ever met and shook Bill’s hands you knew he was a hard worker by the leather of his skin. If something stopped working Bill would handle it- usually with a screw gun and some sheet metal. He knew every Hank Williams Jr song by heart and lived most the lyrics. A man who loved the dogs he raised over the years; man’s best friend, hunting, fishing, building and driving fast cars, campfires and a cold Coors.
He spent his younger years playing football and exploring the wild of the Gila Wilderness. Bill loved his family and friends dearly and always did all he could to make sure others were ok. Bill worked the last 10 years for Nixon Enterprises primarily in the garage door services. His lively personality made many of the clients friends and he always greeted everyone and every job with a smile. Bill was called home to be with Jesus and his family December 9, 2023. He will be cremated with a Memorial Service to be held in Portales, NM January 19, 2023. Time and location TBD.
Bill was preceded in death by his Mother and step father, Betty and Jim Shirley of Portales, Father William Bevel II of Silver City, Sister, Senora Shirley of Portales. Nephew Dustin Allison of Clovis,
Grandparents, Beatrice and Byron Shields, as well as Fraternal Grandparents. Bill also celebrated the life of all other aunts, uncles and cousins that preceded him in death. He is survived by Nieces Tamara Allison of Roswell, Terasa Allison and Ryan Gillette, great niece and nephew Kashlyn and Jaxon of Roswell. He is also survived by multiple cousins, second cousins and aunts and uncles from both sides of the family.
The family asks that you join them in a celebration of life for Bill at 2:00 PM, Fri., Jan. 19, 2024 at VFW Post 9515. Bruce Nixon and his niece Tamara Allison will officiate. There will be a reception to follow. Please remember his contagious smile and all the love and memories shared with him.
