Scott has been a member of the staff of Wheeler Mortuary since 1968, when he was still in college.  He holds degrees from E.N.M.U. and Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, and has been licensed by the State of New Mexico since 1973.  With more than 40 years in funeral service, Scott is able to assist families with compassionate and knowledgeable help in their time of need.

John Seright III

Funeral Director

John has been a funeral director in several locations in the Texas Panhandle, including Lubbock, Amarillo and Plainview.  Most recently he has served in North Carolina, where he was for five years.  He joined our firm in August of 2018, and is fully licensed to assist your family with all of your funeral arrangements.

Charles Terry has been on staff since March of 2005.  A Roosevelt County native, Charles is well known and liked among the community.  Families find Mr. Terry to be compassionate and helpful in their time of need.

Deborah Reeves

Debbie has been a member of our staff since shortly after her marriage to Scott Reeves in 1975.  Through the years, she has assisted in almost every aspect of the firm.  During the rebuilding process, she was instrumental in the coordination between the architectural firm in Dallas and the ongoing building process.  A native of Portales, she is well known in the community, and known for her compassionate and caring ways.

Betty Wiggs

Betty is a native of Roosevelt County, and has been with our firm since 1990.  In that time she has proven herself to be an asset to many families through the knowledge she has acquired in filing insurance claims, and working with government agencies.  We are grateful for her longtime service to the community.

Carolyn Thompson

Evening Receptionist

Carolyn joined our staff in the fall of 2016.  She is a well known figure in Portales, and an active member of her church.  Her gentle and helpful manner is a great asset to our service oriented firm.

Melissa Massey

Evening Receptionist

Melissa is a Roosevelt County native who joined our staff in 2017.  She grew up in the Dora community, and continues to make her home there.  Melissa is active in her church and knows many people throughout the area.  She has a welcoming personality, and is is always at the ready to be of assistance.

Support Staff

Without people behind the scenes, we would not be able to serve our families.  These individuals may not be commonly observed by those attending services, but they are a vital part of our service.

Among those who serve in this capacity are Connie Montano and Jarred Salas.  Connie has been employed by our firm since 1998 as housekeeper.  The immaculate appearance of our building is credited to her.

Jarred, on the other hand, has been in our employ since December of 2013, and oversees the setups of our graveside equipment, helping to make that portion of the service more comfortable for the families we serve.
